Nativity Silhouette EASY CHEAP Decoration!

So, I got this idea on Pinterest but found that the idea that I loved so much, required a silhouette machine that cuts the pieces. Now...I admit, it would look pretty cool if you could cut the silhouettes out for more depth but here is what I did...and it cost me less than $5!

Materials Needed:

  • Black Frames (I got mine at the Dollar Store a while ago)
  • White Cardstock
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ribbon of your choice
Directions:
  1. Find Silhouette images on the internet that you want to use
  2. Edit them to the size that you want and add verses or Words that you like (I used Pixlr.com and Microsoft Word)
  3. Print onto Cardstock
  4. Cut Ribbon to your choice of length
  5. Glue Ribbon down to the back of the frame
  6. Glue Cardstock to the back of the frame (remove glass to lose the shine or leave it in if you choose)
  7. Tie Ribbon and hang on the wall
DONE!

Pizza, Play & Mary Poppins!

Last night we had our first official family movie night! I know it may seem crazy but Tom and I have been waiting for the day to do this. Not that we haven't watched movies before, but more that we set aside an evening to have a fun pizza dinner together and then put our jammies, snuggle our girls and watch a movie together!
First we started with Pizza from Papa Johns...Tom gets a 50% work discount...woohoo!
Then daddy made a milkshake for Keira...she "helped"!

Then we watched Mary Poppins...one of mommy's favorites! Daddy's favorite part was the cuddles!
This lasted for all of 2 minutes...but that is what we figured...
Libby had fun playing next to us in the playhouse!
All in all...it was a fun frugal family night at home...another good memory made.

The Example We Are

In all of the things that have been really on my heart and mind lately, the biggest has probably been being an example.

What kind of an example are you being...

...to your husband?

... to your kids?

...to your friends?

...to your co-workers?

...to your extended family?

...to your waitress, hairdresser, cashier...etc.?

What does our character say about us? Does Jesus shine through in everything? Or...do people view you as someone who likes to gossip?

What about the things that we do? Is church a priority, or is a sporting event or cleaning the house more important when you wake up on Sunday?

What we make the most important things in our life, our kids will see as the most important thing...and may make those things the most important to them too!

Did you know that 80% of kids that are brought up in the church (even with loving Christian families) are walking away from the faith and do not see the importance of this? Why is this happening? I think that as families trying to survive in a {worldly} "Success" driven society, are focusing too much on college and career oriented stuff (not that those aren't important) and making them more important than their child's spiritual life!

Let's refocus on what is most important so that we can be a light to all around us. After all, we want to be with our children, spouses, friends, family and acquaintances for eternity, right?

Set Apart

Hello and welcome to my new blog.

Lately, I have been noticing so much how even Christians are completely focused on the things that don't matter in life. Shouldn't or lives reflect what we believe? Should we not be consistently striving to learn more about what and why we believe what we do?

Well, that is my inspiration for this blog. I hope to inspire YOU to dig deeper into the word of God and really focus on what is important as we walk through this life together.

What are we teaching our kids? How are we being an example to them and others around us? Are we Set Apart? Do our friends, families, neighbors, strangers and all others see something different in us?

Let us be Set Apart together in order to glorify God!
